My VBF Brooke of Silly Mama Quilts featured a similar table runner on her blog on May 15th.  I wanted mine a bit longer and used the deeper colors of Alison Glass Ex Libris fabric line.  Thank you Brooke for allowing me to be a copy cat.

EEEEK UNFINISH OBJECTS FROM 1996

This past week I decided I needed to get in and really do some clean up in my quilt studio.  I dug through all sorts of things.  I ended up pulling a large zip lock bag with this little beauty in it out of the bottom of a bin under my cutting table.  All the fabric I might need to finish it including a back, and the pattern were in that bag.  

There were these additional appliqués all finished to just sew together and add to the sides of the quilt too.  

I pulled out this catalog cover from the bag.  Oh dear 1996!  Really this has been in my UFO's [Unfinished Objects] for 19 years.  Could that really be true.  Unfortunately I'm afraid it is.  The pattern was in that bag as well.  As you can see the quilt is patterned to be much bigger; the pattern size is 78 by 78 inches.  I do not intend to complete the quilt with the last diamond borders.  Those diamond borders might add another 19 years unto this project.  As it is now it would be about 56 inches square with just adding the side borders and I may add a simple border to all four sides to just finish it off, which will increase the size to about 64 inches square.

Crazy Mom Quilts

I had a ton of Bonnie & Camille fabrics.  I have made several quilts with several of their lines.  Some are finished and some are still in progress.  I have gotten into somewhat of a program trying to scale down my stash, and especially use up some of the left overs of particular lines that are still hanging around.  My quilt guild asks that each year you make a charity quilt in your birthday month to be donated to their charity projects.  This is my donation for this year.  I cut 6-1/2 inch squares of everything I had left.  Then I cut strip for the binding out of more of the left overs.  

I got my top all sewn together.  I considered buying a back, but there were still some pretty good size left overs in the drawer.  I pieced the back.  This is something I usually do not do, but I was on a roll of finally using up all these fabrics.  I'm sort of liking the back, it is of fun and colorful.  The Bonnie & Camille drawer in my studio is empty.  Now that feels good.

STASH UFO's

Yesterday I decided I had to get in and do some serious cleaning up in my quilt studio.  I pulled out a whole shelf in the closet of boxes and containers.  One container held two different sets of finished blocks that I had done with Amy Gibson, which were a block of the month program.  One was done in 1930 reproductions and this one in Bonnie & Camille fabrics.  
No I did not finish the cleaning project.  The vacuum cleaner still resides in there ready to do some actual cleaning today.  I did, however, put the 1930 blocks together, back it, quilt it, and sew the binding on.  I laid this one out on the guest bed and will get it together as well.  The sad situation is there are two other containers in there with blocks all put together ready to go.  Hmmmm, guess I have my work cut out for me.

ABOVE THE CURVE

I saw on the cover of Stitch magazine this table runner recently.  I give table runners away as gifts to some of the ladies that make up part of my staff at work.  Sometimes when I fall in love with the runner I keep it.  This might be a keeper.  This is the first half of the runner.  I am folding under the edges and appliquéing the edges down with invisible thread and a hemming stitch.  

These are my fabric choices.  I bought them at Pacific International Quilt Show last October.  I had no real plan for them, but once I saw this pattern I decided to try them out.  

This is the magazine cover.  The binding is a facing type rather than the standard binding.  I have not ever used that before, but I do like the look.  Time to learn a new trick.  

LINEN TABLE RUNNER

I started this runner a couple weeks ago.  I saw a picture of a similar runner on the internet.  I had several color ways of the linen, which I got a the Pacific International Quilt Show in Santa Clara, Calif., and purchased the grey locally.  Seeing the picture I knew it was what I would like to try and finally accomplished.  I had a couple failed attempts getting the right angles on the strips, but finally got it right.  As this is a finished project after several tries I am linking up with

CORDOVA TABLE RUNNER

I saw a table runner in a magazine ad, and ended up buying the book to complete it.  I've had this fabric just, three different pieces, for some time.  It looked like it would make a good choice for the runner.  

I cut 12 6-inch squares, and have 4 with their bias strips basted on above.  Once all are basted down on the 12 blocks I will use poly thread and a hemming stitch to finish their edges.   

This is the book I ended up with.  It has a lot of great appliqué ideas and fun patterns inside.  

This is a picture of the finished pattern.  I am anxious to finish mine up.  The appliqués are not difficult, but do take a bit of time.  This is a Wednesday and my project is in process so I am linking up with

COOL SUMMER MORNING RUNNER

Its hot here, likely 99 or even 100 by this afternoon.  This morning the garden is cool and inviting.  This summer buffet/table runner somehow has that cool summer morning feel.  The fabric line is Urban Mod by AGF in House Studio for Art Gallery.  It is soft, almost like silk.  Can't wait to put it on my buffet or dining table today.  Now that it is finished I am joining up with

TRYING OUT SOME MODERN QUILT IDEAS

I'm trying out some modern quilting ideas on this quick table runner I threw together this week.  A bit wrinkly, as it needs a good press, but I like it.  It does take some time to do all those rows of quilting and more than a bit of thread.  I think it might go right from here unto my table.  It looks nice and summery.

LUX IN BLOOM

My Summer 2015 Stitch magazine arrived this week.  In it was a Charm Pack Plus One Baby Quilt pattern.  It spoke to me for some reason, although I did not want a 36 by 36 inch baby quilt, or even a baby quilt.  I searched around through my stash and found this Luz in Bloom fabric by Sarah Watson for Art Gallery.  I love this fabric.  I bought an original 1/2 yard pack of it at Quilt Market's Sample Spree, then turned around and bought another at Spring Market, forgetting I had already bought it.  I really did like it that is obvious.  I have expanded the pattern to 58 inches square instead of the 36 inches.  As you can see I still have a couple more crosses to add to finish it off.  Plus one row right in the middle is in the sewing machine. A work in progress for sure.  So I am linking up with.
