No much accomplished at all this past week. A good deal of time on the phone back and forth with Thanksgiving dinner plans. Our youngest daughter's family and husband and I share the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner's hosting. Depending on her work schedule, she is in the medical field and required to work each year one or the other of those holidays. The one of us that is hosting organizes an assigned pot luck. Our other daughter and our granddaughter along with the one not hosting are assigned various dishes and items to bring. With four families that amount to 12 and sometimes an extra one or two people, sharing the menu means no one has to do all the cooking and grocery purchases. We all live within a 30 minute drive. It works very well, other than the fact that we end up with way more food than we needed, but the leftovers are handed out as well.
Our little dog Zoey now has two Christmas placemats all ready for the holidays. I fussed around with this storage bag. It is supposed to have a velcro closure, but I am thinking more like putting a button and button hole on it instead. The idea was to make a few for my guild's quilt show boutique. I am not very excited about that idea.
I did finish the charity quilt top. Once done I think it is really nice. The idea was to use up all the fabric from the original 45 piece, never ending fat quarter bundle. I cut up everything leftover and came. up with more than 72 squares cut at 6.5". Another charity quilt I guess. The left overs are in a bag and they are going to my friend Michelle. She can make wheel chair lap quilts for Hospice out of them.

What a lucky pup to have holiday placemats :)
ReplyDeleteHaha. I like that your are passing on the leftovers to someone else. I have been trying to put some fabric on my guild's free table every month. It's successful but I need to put out more. I'll never use all the fabric I have! I really like your four patch and squares quilt. I tried to talk my hubby into a cloth "table mat" for our little dog but he wanted it to be waterproof. He did clean up the mat we use for her. It looks so much better! Your T-Day celebration makes sense to me. We tend to do the same but the numbers are higher as we include some in-laws. I think we'll be at 16 or 17 this year. And, like you, we all bring something to the meal. And, we take leftovers home too. That's a bonus! Have a great family day on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy. My Guy and My Girl have been working on who tackles what for our dinner. It's small with just the three of us, but they really enjoy cooking together. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving with your family.
ReplyDeleteSo many projects! I think the storage bag is a bit fussy for a charity project and there are so many patterns on the net that I'd probably switch to something else. Great idea though and I think project bags will sell well. Love, love your new charity top! The fabrics are fabulous. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Happy Thanksgiving. ♥
I love that charity quilt top....love the pattern.
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes pn your projects!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't enjoy making that bag, then don't. There are so many free bag patterns out there you should be able to find something else.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you and your daughter alternate who hosts Thanksgiving depending on her work schedule. Unless you have or you have been someone who works on major holidays, it is easy to think everyone has the day off. Durning my 10 year stint as an EMT in our town, my mother never got why some years I was working on Thanksgiving or Christmas.
