NINE AND FOUR PATHCH PLUS ART

This past week has been very frustrating.  Computer technical issues with our internet and a new modem has caused hours of telephone calls with the provider and finally they have decided after multiple telephone calls with no success to come out and deal with the issue.  Needless to say it has cut into my sewing time drastically.  Sewing is my zen place, when things get tough or stressful I sew.  Needless to say nothing much got done and I am not a very happy camper right now.

I finally managed to get a 5 rows together on my 9 patch 4 patch quilt.  One more row to go.  I still have tons of blue and neutral squares cut out.  I way over cut for sure.  I guess I will have to stash them away and start another quilt with them at another time.

Some time ago I saw a picture in  Art Quilting Studio's Winter 2021 issue by Ela Zeman that caught my eye.  I started it several weeks ago with the background.  I did get the background quilted, and added some grasses one afternoon.  I need a much darker green for additional vines, but have not had time to get out to a quilt store or order on line so it is on hold.

At least one major accomplishment happen at my daughter's house.  The naughty peacocks' jail was finished this week.  No more raiding the neighbors walnut orchard, laying around their pool or sitting on top of the cars of visitors.  It is a huge structure and 17 feet high and roofed so no flying out.  My daughter's two Ginny hens have joined them and all seem to be very happy.  They have the large nesting box to keep them out of the wet weather and plenty of roosting poles to sit on.  My daughter is happy that husband is no longer threatening to BBQ them and I suspect the neighbors are relieved too.

  2. HAHA!! I LOVE it (the 'jail', that is). Too funny but it looks like a pretty nice jail. And yes, I bet the neighbors are relieved!

  3. That looks like quite a comfortable "jail." It's certainly better than the BBQ. :)

  4. Yeah, that is FRUSTRATING, dealing with internet or phone providers. I hate it. Sure hope things are squared away by now. That's a serious endeavor, the 17ft high enclosure! They're so pretty. I would love somebody else's peacocks visiting my yard, but yeah - probably not the happiest thing if they scratched up the car.

  9. Now the peacocks can be watched and enjoyed and not BBQed and enjoyed. I love your 9 patch 4 patch quilt! And the Art quilt is gorgeous. I love the subtlety of the colors. I hope your internet problems are over! Have a marvellously happy (and stitchy) day.

  12. Oh, goodness -- your SIL was threatening to BBQ the peacocks?!! That makes him sound like an evil supervillain, at least to bird lovers!! I'm glad they found a solution that didn't involve cooking anyone's pets! Sorry to hear that you've been struggling with tech issues. But your 9-patch 4-patch looks fabulous. If you wanted to unload your extra squares with a giveaway instead of stashing them for later, I'd put my name in the hat for that... ;-). Otherwise I just might have to start cutting out squares from my own scrap bins! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!

  13. Ugh on the internet issues. I know that is a pain that I have to go through every couple of years. Your blocks are very pretty though. Wow, that's a really nice peacock jail. LOL. Maybe they can get out with good behavior as long as they are supervised from time to time.

  15. How are the peacocks coping with jail time? Guess they are not allowed out for play time, I imagine they would be difficult birds to move around?

  17. Great pattern the 9 patch/4 patch. I was wondering how big your squares are? The peacock retreat is very nice. So funny, your description of the peacocks lounging by the pool and the naughty stuff.

  19. Hi DonnaleeQ! I am so sorry to hear about your internet/phone issues. Ugg. Technology is just great when it works . . . and when it doesn't. Well, thanks for getting our whole life dependent on you. I hope all those issues are solved now. {{Hugs}} Well, well, well. The peacocks have met their match, hey?! Hmm. No more lounging by the pool, I guess, enjoying walnuts. Gosh, your blue and neutral quilt top looks fabulous. If you have to pack up the excess, be sure to include that picture of what the pieces are for! I think that's a fabulous idea and tip. ~smile~ Roseanne
