Just finished my fall wall hanging this week.  Fall isn't here just yet, we still have high 90's weather, but it is so pretty I just could not resist putting it up.  The leaves are fabrics by French General and the background is linen.

It is a little hard to see the quilting, but I copied the appliqué design with my quilting.  I have to admit it truly is one of my very favorite pieces I have done.  

Clean it up, Clean it up!

I think it is time to do some clean up in my studio.  Things are really out of control in there.

Quilting the Linen and Leaves

Originally I was going to hand quilt this piece with linen thread.  I am not a hand quilter, and one quilted vine reminded me of that.  I pulled it out and decided to go with machine quilting.  I am duplicating the appliquéd vines and leaves with quilting, and even popping in a few quilted leaves between the appliqué leaves.  If you have not tried the Pilot Frixion pens I recommend you do so.  I can just draw around my leaf template or my curvy line vine, quilt over my lines and then the pen marks are removed by pressing the fabric, either steam or dry iron works.

Havest & A New Baby Quilt

Its harvest time at my house.  This is just half of what we have harvested so far.  There are at least this many more out in our garden.  We will be enjoying several months of summer squash.

I have been working on a quilt for my guild charity program.  They ask that each one of us in our birthday month donate a quilt for their program.  I purchased Camille Roskelley's book Simply Retro.  By the way she has a class she is offering on Craftsy.  This pattern is called Baby Love and is just 36 by 36 inches.  A perfect size for baby, that you can quilt easily on your machine.    

Linen and French General Leaves

A new project in process.  I think I need one more panel to finish the wall hanging for my hall this fall.  I was inspired by a quilt in one of the Portland Quilt Market booths.

New Ideas

At Portland's Spring Market there were so many hexagon projects I decided to try one out myself.  I love Camille Roskelley's pattern and saw a sample at Market of this quilt.  Nothing could be simpler than buying a Honeycomb packet of pre-cut hexagons.  They even give you a plastic template to cut the hexagons that are strips, which are not included in the packet.  I can hardly wait to start this fun project.

I fell in love with this fabric line at Market in The Quilted Fish booth.  I show pictures earlier in my blog.  It is called Madhuri and is just such a great fun fabric line for this summer.     

Getting Ready for Christmas Early

Trying to get ready for Christmas early and beat the mad rush to get things done.  I really like this Wrenly Christmas fabric.
Love these little guys for Christmas too.

Finishing up my Lucky Penny fabric by Alison Glass.  I really love these colors.

Simply Retro

This wonderful book arrived this weekend.  Camille was at Market too.  I just love her ideas, and can't wait to start a quilt or even two from this new book.

This quilt is available as a pattern from Camille, called Niner.  I started it with my Happy Go Lucky   fabric that I purchased at the beginning of May.  I have 110 of these little nine patches done.  Now to get it together with the Kona Snow solid white blocks.  I took this picture of Camille's at Market in display in her booth.

This quilt was also on display in Camille's booth.  What a great way to use up all those little scraps.  This pattern is in her new book.  There just isn't enough time to have this much fun.  

More favorites from Market

I fell in love with this quilt.  They used 12 inch squares of linen, then the leaves were appliquéd on with a small zig zag stitch, and those vine ends were sewn right into the seams that joined the blocks.  The finished quilt was 60 inches square.  I am thinking of doing a smaller version for a wall hanging for myself.

These little birds were so cute.  Notice the little pockets.  Can't you just see these little guys done in red Christmas fabrics and those little pockets used to hold Christmas cards?  Again they used linen for the background in two different color ways.
