I have spent the last 5 months or so working on charity quilts with my guild's Warm Wrappings program. At least a good part of my motif has been an attempt to de-stash some of my old fabrics that have hung around in the bins and closet for years. Frankly it has not been all that successful but well worth the try.
I think this is number 17. Most of these are left over William Morris fabrics. My plan was to keep this one, but once I got down to the last row to finish have decided I am not that excited about it. I am sort of done and have plans to do something else for a while in the sewing room.
De-stashing has really not worked very well. This is the reason why. I went on a bit of a shopping spree.
And a second shopping trip as well. The Fat Quarter Shop is addictive, and my oldest daughter helped with a Mother's Day gift card from Connecting Threads that I have been saving, and another I just got from her for my birthday. Now just have to dig up a pattern or two and get busy.

Oh my, what gorgeous fabrics!!! I was surprised that I didn't bring home more than 7 yards from my trip to Wisconsin. LOL
ReplyDeleteAt least you moved along some of your older stash. Sometimes new stash is just what you need to use up some of the older stash.
ReplyDeleteOMG! You really did go on a spree and with gift certificates -- how fun. I've been looking at CT's Stash and Save this week (and every day actually) and have been tempted to buy the fabric offerings. I thought I was going to buy today's offering (Cobblestone in cream 108" wide back.) I was going to use it as the background fabric with my fabric pull for Marvelous Mystery but decided I couldn't tell if it would have been any better than the one I have. Oh well. It means I've succeeded in not adding anything this month. I did enough last month (40 yards or so but some was free!) I only report fabric ins and outs once a quarter. I'm hoping I get a few more quilts done in September so I actually have some usage rather than all the fabric coming in!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone,!🤣 I have so much fabric yet I always need more🤣 people ask what will I make with it & the reply is always don't know yet🤣 Fall is coming so you had a valid excuse 🤣
ReplyDeleteDestashing might not have been as successful as you hoped, but wow you got some fun prints added in for sure!!!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, gorgeous new fabrics!! Destashing will be for another day, or two ;D These pretty colors are calling for a Fall quilt! Thank you for sharing and linking up.
ReplyDeleteI love all the fall colors. I so love fall. You're so talented.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Amazing how difficult it is to de-stash. It is as though the fabrics propagate overnight. Still you are putting your stash to good use and simply replenishing necessary autumnal fabrics.
ReplyDeleteYou found some lovely new fabrics. The de-stashing will wait, right? I vow to only sew from my stash and then I see something pretty that I just can't resist.
ReplyDeleteGreat shopping spree! Laura
ReplyDeleteThey are all nice, but the fabrics in the first two pictures are stunning. I can't wait to see what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteWow, Donnalee. You did make quite the haul of pretty fall fabrics. I do like your destash quilt though! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun one
ReplyDeleteDonnalee the quilt is a beauty. I’m surprised you decided to share it instead. Then I looked at all of your fall finds and can understand why you’ve moved on to a new plan. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI see you're in the mood for fall as well! I simply have to make some time to quilt something fall. Love your charity quilt. Those fabrics are gorgeous!
