My Wisteria Wall is completely done, all the quilt show boutique items are finished. I now can play with anything I want in the sewing room and do some fun things just because I want to. My quilt guild offers classes several times a year. Some are with professional quilters which we pay $40 to take, and twice a year two classes are offered free for guild members. These are usually taught by a guild member and are always great fun and good classes. I took one of them last week and by far one of the best ones I have ever taken.
The block pattern you make is all free form, on a 18" square of freezer paper you draw four circles starting from the middle and out, then you cut the 18"square into four 9"squares. Cut out each quarter circles pattern, iron them onto fabric and zig zag down onto stabilizer.
Nice technic. I love the idea of the biais!
ReplyDeleteVery fun blocks! It's fun to learn a new trick or two.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun project. Our guild does some classes once in a while too. I do like learning new techniques to try out.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to find a quilting blog! I'll be following!

I love the batik fabrics. I've had a few of them! Thanks for sharing your process and progress of the improv blocks in my Sew & Tell party.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I wish I could do this kind of work.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Love the fabrics you've chosen for your curved blocks! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Looks like that was a really fun class, Donnalee. Love your blocks! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteOh that does look like fun!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I've done blocks like that pieced but never with bias.
ReplyDeleteI can see why this class appealed to. I'm partial to classes that teach technique vs. a project. There are so many places you go with this.
ReplyDeleteVery fun blocks! They look great in those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting technique & so many ways to use these blocks. I love the look of the bias.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love your guild?!?!?! Where else can you take a quilt class from professional teachers for only $40? Our guild also has that wonderful opportunity. I love your "free" class project. Very inspirational. Judging by some of the other comments you've gotten, I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeleteI really like those - and what fun to get to play on some of your own things!
