Still having some blog comments not going through to my emails. I apologize to those of you that comment and I do not reply. I have found that I can reply through my Mail AP on my computer, however it is a new computer and for the life of me I can not get it to work. Time to call in the IT guy (youngest daughter's husband), maybe he can get it to work.
Over the weekend I worked on making a couple of these fabric gift boxes. It took several very frustrating hours, I had lost the pattern and spent the entire afternoon trying to recreate it from a prior made one. The pattern is all one piece 11 inches by 21, of outside, lining, and stablizer. The zipper is on the 11 inch sides. Once the zipper is in then just boxing the four corners and inserting the handle is all that is left. Lesson: Write things down and keep them.My Butterly quilt is done. All quilted, and the binding nearly sewn down by hand. I am really pleased with this quilting job. Just my second attempt at a relatively large quilt 50 by 62 inches myself. Just goes to show you really can teach an old lady something new.
I ended up having three blocks left over. A quick table runner seemed a good idea. The pastel variegated thread was still in the machine after doing the quilt, why not.
Zoey had a difficult time of it last week. A trip for a shampoo, haircut, blow-dry, and manicure was just a bit too much as far as she is concerned. A sun bath and nap on the living room sofa was the perfect way to recover from such an ordeal.
This square pouch is adorable, I know it can be so frustrating not keeping tracks of previously made patterns ;) The butterfly quilt is lovely, and well done with the quilting! Cute little Zoey ;) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLovely butterfly quilt and table runner! Congrats on your quilting, and on the gift box. Poor tired little Zoey! A nap is just what she needed.
ReplyDeleteI love those fabric boxes! Oh! But to lose a pattern is indeed frustrating! Kudos to you on quilting your own quilt! Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of those extra blocks!
Awww…..I’m glad Zoey had a pleasant nap!
Your butterfly quilt and runner both look lovely. Poor Zoey, hope she has forgiven you for putting her through such trauma.
ReplyDeleteThe bag looks great, so you did well at dealing with the frustration. The butterfly quilt turned out beautifully too! Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteCute bag. I've seen a similar pattern for little bags but haven't succumbed to buying it yet. Your butterflies look really great and bonus! A cool table runner. Good week for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bag finish. Persevering in those conditions is not easy!!! --TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteYour butterfly quilt is wonderful. It's a great scrappy design.
ReplyDeleteThat butterfly quilt is so sweet. And the gift box may have been frustrating to make, but it turned out great.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric gift box is glorious! What a great idea - I'm going to see if I can find a pattern for one. I am all out of gift boxes and loathe to buy any and have to store them in the closet. Your butterfly quilt is so pretty and a nice bonus on the table runner Hope Zoey is recovered from her ordeal ;)
ReplyDeleteHi DonnaleeQ! I hope you are doing well and had a wonderful Mother's Day. It has been a while since I visited, and I apologize for that. Zoey is one adorable and sweet Yorkie. That face! How can you get anything done with those eyes staring at you. Your butterflies are fab. I've been meaning to make a table runner as they belong on my table. Tomorrow is butterfly release day at Sue's school - how ironically timely. Finally, I think your bag looks great. You did a great job recreating the bag. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

Lovely fabric box! Sorry you had to go to all that trouble to make it. I put things in the "best" places and that's how I lose them. Maybe yours is hiding there! Thanks for sharing your quilt and runner on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi DonnaLee, good luck with your computer - it's so necessary to have an IT person in the family :-) I love that box - wow, so cute, especially without the original pattern! You did a great job on your quilt and runner. We can indeed keep learning! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how Zoey feels. I look the same way after a day with my much loved grandchildren. The butterfly quilt and runner are lovely. They look perfect for spring. I'm always amazed at people who can figure things out without the instructions. Super job! I'm sure they'll be loved by the recipients.
