CRAFTS BLOCK OF THE MONTH TABLE RUNNER

In January I signed up for  Lynette Jensen's 2016 Craftsy Block of the Month.  By the way it is a free Craftsy project.
I made this center piece, which was the January  part of the Block of the Month.  Little did I realize until February's blocks were added that I had made the hourglass blocks 3-1/2 inches instead of 4 inches finished and now nothing fit properly.  I fumed and complained a lot about my failure to read the direction properly, but in the end decided to make the center over.
Originally I figured I would just toss this center piece, then decided it was really cute and I should just make a table runner out of it.
Well here it is and I do think it is just too cute to have tossed.

I just did a simple serpentine quilting across the center of it then added the same stitching twice down each boarder, and bound it in that cute yellow print you see just below the red hourglass block.
Don't you just love it when life gives you lemons and you figure out you can make lemonade?
This has turned out to be a super great finish so I am linking up with

FLUX IN PROGRESS

I finally got back to my Flux project using Avantgarde by Katarina Rochelle for Art Gallery Fabrics.  This is the first four rows of seven in the quilt.  I really like the color graduation from turquoise and eventually ended up with an orange and then yellow fabric row.  As this is still a project in progress I am linking up with

FABIC TUESDAY PROJECT 48 BLOCK 7

I finished up my Project 48 February 19th Block 7.  This BOM has turned into so much fun.
I am looking forward to finishing off the month.  Next week I hope to be able to post all the blocks for January and February.

BIAS STRIP BLOCKS

My quilt guild offered a class with Jan Soules in January using bias strips to cover curved pieced blocks.  I had purchased this Cosmos fabric many months before that sat in my quilting stash with no idea what to do with it.  I even shared half of it with my best friend Brooke of Silly Mama Quilts.  While visiting with her and her family in October we used this fabric to make a wedding quilt for one of her nieces.  Here are a few of the blocks we put together for that project.

Once I got back home and decided to take the class.  I figured to use the rest of this line on something a bit different.  I need to take the blocks and put them together in a better arrangement, but this project while not done is turning out to be lots of fun.  Since it is still a work in project I am linking up with

FEBRUARY CRAFTSY BLOCK OF THE MONTH

I finished by Craftsy Block of the month project, well almost finished I still have six more star blocks to do.  This center piece has given me a considerable amount of grief.  I got the January part all done as far as the red border.  When I went to put on the dogtooth border it was too large.  I started doing some measuring and discovered I had made the hour glass, yes all fifteen of them, 1/2 inch too small.  I fumed and tried a couple of ideas trying to rescue it, which of course did not work.  I ended up remaking it to the proper size.  Amazing what 1/2 an inch repeated 15 times can do to a pattern.
I figured I would just toss the original one, but realized it might make a perfect small table runner.
And here it is.  Cute little item, which would have been a shame to toss.  Just goes to show that first of all it is really important to read the direction carefully, and when a project doesn't work it might not be such a problem after all.
Well this project, at least January and February's is finished so I am linking up with.

PROJECT 48 FEBRUARY 5TH'S BLOCK

I'm moving right along finishing up my first February Project 48 block.  Plus I have managed to work on a couple stars and dogtooth border for my Craftsy Block of the Month project too.
I managed to get some of my Craftsy Block of the month flying geese started and the rest of my points started for my star blocks too.
The flying geese are started for one of the boarders
Two of my six starts are done.
I would say that I have at least started all sorts of stuff over the weekend so I am linking up with
and thank you Brooke for rescuing Wednesday's WIP

SCAPTASTIC TUESDAY PROJECT 48 SCRAPS

I signed up for a Block of the Month at the beginning of 2015, but only worked on it for a couple of months.  I guess life just got too busy.  I did not stop the monthly fabric shipments and ended up with this pile of odds and ends of mostly Cotton & Steel fabrics.
I once again signed up for a Block of the Month with Project 48.  Actually it is 4 blocks each month.  Every Friday a new block is e-mailed to me.  This is January's blocks, which I pulled fabric out of that large random scrap pile.  This  2016 new year's resolution is to finish this one off.

VALENTINES DAY

I have a co-worker that moved to Tennessee last year.  Thought it would be fun to send her a Valentines Day card to let her know I thinking about her.  So here it is!  Such a fun and quick gift to let someone know you love and appreciate their friendship.
It's on its way this week, so thought I would link of with

QUILTER'S PLANNER 2016

I decided to try to start 2016 better organized in my quilt studio.  The facts are that I have piles and piles of projects in various stages of construction and tons more I want to do.  Plus I found myself involved in my quilt guild's process of preparing for a quilt show.

I saw this Quilter's Planner on a Blog and decided if this type of system worked for me at my job, why would it not help organizing myself on my quilting projects and guild responsibilities.
Plus it has tons of space for me to add in pictures of what I have completed.
And what I want to accomplish.   I have lots of things in progress, but at least feel better about having a way to organize them.  I really recommend this particular planner which is available at
and since this too is a project in process I am linking up with
