VINE AND BERRIES PLUS

Another project that has sat too long in the UFO pile.  Time to get busy with this stuff.
Lot of appliqué in all sorts of color of rayon thread.  Glad I stocked up when they had it on sale at JoAnn's a while back.
Lots of progress on the Hidden Treasure appliqués.
Now only two sides to go.  It has been interesting without the original pattern to figure out a layout of the appliqué pieces, but so far things are going pretty well.
I have added another tree to my hand appliqué project.
And another house.
I got a bit tired of green trees and decided on a flowering tree.
And as I am feeling much more accomplished with appliqués I have decided to go back to this pattern from a class I took last year.
Not much of a start.  I found that somewhere along the line I used my white Batiks for another project.  As I am off to Pacific International Quilts Festival next week, I"ll do some shopping there for them and get this pieces going.

  1. Nice progress on the old UFO - love that rayon thread for this one. The flowering tree is fun! And that Dogwood Blossoms piece sure is gorgeous. I love the quilting they did on it. I wouldn't have come up with that on my own.

  3. Hi Donnalee! Ooh, I love that new tree you're adding - I like the shape of it. And the house looks fun with pretty fabrics. It will be fun to see it finished. ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. This is my LUCKY DAY! I stumbled on your blog and fell on the numerous Spools with the delightful wide border which looks like it will include some applique. I recently made over 100 spools, working in some kind of mental fit !!!, and now wonder how to use them. They are all lovely, 4 1/2 in, and your project looks like what I should do. And I see your spools are also made long ago, and stashed. What fun to find them and feel energized to get them made into a real quilt! Thank you for the inspiration.

  8. Your machine applique is very pretty! I'm practicing that with my Stitcher's Garden quilt and wow! It's a learning curve! You know, the contrast of angles in your Hidden Treasures quilt make the name so accurate - plenty of eye candy to look at! Absolutely beautiful! I noticed you appeared to have basted some of your applique pieces on with long basting stitches. I've never thought of that - great idea! Your flowering tree is so pretty - reminiscent of the Cherry Blossom trees I saw in Okinawa. Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful projects!
