JOY STUDIO PROJECT

Last month I did some appliqué work for Janet Frisch of Joy Studio.  Her pattern Seamstress from the Handmaids Series was quite the project I must admit.  Lots of tiny pieces and a three day rush job.

The stand had lots of highlighted appliqué.
Her dress so much easier.
Her face and hair.  I ran into a bit of a problem with the backing fabric showing through the face and a little bit through the hair as well, Never the less I thought the eyes, nose, and other facial features came out really well.
And done.  Not a finish for me, as it was mailed off to Janet for quilting and framing.

  6. I love her designs. This looks smashing as a large piece.

I never remember to check if lighter fabrics will show through the background, and inevitably, i just iron some embroidery stabiliser (whisperweft type stuff) onto the wrong side of the applique piece, and phew!
