WINTER FABRIC SHOPPING

I really have not done much of anything this week other than make zipper pouches.  Taking down Christmas and trying to get all that put away has taken up more time.  I did discover that while I have loads of wall hangings and table runners in spring, summer, and fall prints and colors winter themes are zero.  So why not take a bit of a trip to my local quilt stores.

So, time to make a couple of winter table runners.  I think this red print is my favorite.  I did realize that winter colors are not easy to find anything though.  Not much out there to work with.

Now these are not winter prints.  But I love this type of fabric and have often used this for backgrounds on some of my appliqué projects.  Not sure what I plan to do with these, but I do see a quilt in the future with them.

  1. That red print is gorgeous! I've never thought what winter colors really are. Maybe blue and white, black and brown, gray and blue? . Looking forward to seeing what you put together.

  2. Your new fabrics are lovely. Those will make great projects. I had a bit of a fabric binge on Black Friday. I've been trying not to buy more fabric. Oops.

  3. Zipper pouches are the best! My daughter has made me several and quite a few of them have vinyl fronts – which I love! Your fabric combinations are beautiful! I can see how those bottom fabrics would be amazing backgrounds! Love them!

  4. I like those background fabrics too. I think the shops start carrying a lot of winter prints about July. They may have sold out in your local shop.

  18. It's fun when a new project idea means you need to go "enhance the stash"! I was never a big blue and white fan until I realized it's a great "winter" color combo, now I can't get enough of it. Maybe use your reds combined with black, white, gray and a touch of yellow in honor of winter Cardinal birds. Love those Tim Holtz backgrounds!
