I survived the A/C/Heater replacement last week. Glad that is finished. Now time to get my bedspread, shams and a scrap quilt finished and start something new.
I finished my scrap quilt and prepared a binding for it now it is off next month to the charity group for quilting and finishing up the binding process.Several months ago I started this Acrobatic quilt and decided to play with the blocks a bit. Not very happy with the one on the far right as the stripes cannot be matched so may toss that one and cut out a different background fabric. It is to be a charity quilt as well, so have to think about it when all 9 are done and see where I go with that idea. Happened on to this block of the month startup and decided to take some of my small scrap fabrics and work on getting them into something fun. These blocks are supposed to be 18.5" square when done. I am keeping them at the 10.5" which will make a 36" by 48" quilt which I could add borders to make it a bit larger. Will see how that goes as I move along through the year.Linky Parties on the Side Bar
Don't worry about the block with the mismatched stripes! It adds a bit of wonky charm and looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour scrap quilt tuned out beautifully. You have some fun projects to use up those odds and ends. Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice the mismatched stripes. It's just a cute block.
ReplyDeletePretty projects on the go, love the sweet scrap quilt top. I find your acrobatic blocks great and fun the way they are, they look like improv blocks! Cute little house too. Thank you for sharing your work in progress.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a pretty scrap quilt. Would your share the name of your pattern – or did you design it yourself? Your house block is so precious! I love how the roof and door match!
ReplyDeleteLog cabins are my favorite blocks... they work with everything! Thanks for sharing in my Sew & Tell party.
ReplyDeleteYou had a good week! I agree, don't toss that stripe block just yet. I think the stipe not matching gives the block an interesting bit of movement. Wait until you make all the blocks and lay them out together: often it's the "off" one that gives the whole layout a sparkle and boost.
ReplyDeleteLove your scrap quilt finish. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.
ReplyDeleteI love the house block. I really want to make a quilt of houses.
ReplyDeleteAcrobat is kind of cute - I don't think that mis match will stand out when you have all the blocks - but I get it ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf you hadn't mentioned that the stripes didn't match, I wouldn't have noticed. That is one of the great things about quilts - they are made from cut fabric and don't need to match. Why does it work? I think I didn't notice because the stripes are all horizontal. That alone is quite a feat. Love what you have so far.
ReplyDeleteIf the wonky stripes bother you, you could always use that block as a label on the back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up. I think I'd leave that mismatched stripe too.
ReplyDeleteI love your scrappy quilt finish, Donnalee. Your new project looks interesting! Thanks for sharing.

I think that block looks fine—it adds an interesting sort of movement. I like the log cabin. Will all the centers be houses, or are they all different?
ReplyDeleteGREAT
