BABY QUILTS FOR MY STASH

I have three daughters, all beyond having babies, but every once an a while one asks for a baby quilt to gift to a friend, or co-worker.  So I keep a stash of them handy.  My stash has been severely depleted over the last couple of years and it was time to do something about that problem.
I love Carrie Bloomston's fabric lines.  The fussy cutting of the night sky, beach, and ocean on this quilt was such a fun addition to a rather plain half square triangle center.  I actually used a good deal of those same fabrics on my double wedding ring quilt, which I have yet to finish, but will someday.
My second finish was this animal quilt.  So fun and I really like the prints that came with the printed animal blocks.  Nice to finish off these two quilts.

  1. As a lover of anything Carrie designs your idea for the borders are great. Might try it someday.

  2. What a good idea!! You are SEW smart to keep a stash of baby quilts. Both turned out well, but I really LOVE that first one!

  5. I had to read your title twice to realize you were adding finished baby quilts to your stash -- not just fabric. Love the light to dark fabric. Looks great on the baby quilt and on your wedding ring quilt.

  6. I've just recently done the same. I really dislike being in the middle of a quilt and stop for a very late notice baby announcement. Looks good!

  7. Baby quilts are so much fun to make --- small and usually fun colors & themes!

  9. Both are wonderful! I wish I had a "stash" of finished quilts ready for gifting! Instead, I'm scrambling to finish baby quilts for babies already born, even as I learn of new pregnancies for which quilts are warranted. Always a day late and a dollar (or a quilt!) short at my house!

  10. You are very generous and your baby quilts are so cute. Have you taught your daughters to sew? You know the saying, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime."

  12. My friends and I are done having little ones, too, but it's always a good idea to have a few baby quilts ready to go. You never know! Your fabric collection choices here are so good. I love both CB's work and anything by Gingiber. The really brilliant part is that I think both finishes are gender neutral. Boy baby or girl baby, you're prepared!
