This week I finally decided to shift from working on my guild's baby quilt charity requests and do a couple of personal projects and finishes.
I finished my Rosemary and Thyme quilt top. Those last 3 missing blocks were a real chore for me for some reason, but I finally pulled myself together and got them done. Now just to do a back up and off to the quilter. This delightful little one is our Yorkshire Terrier Zoey, and she likes her breakfast and snacks on a placemat. Her old ones have been wash thousands of times and were looking pretty worn out, so I happened to find this fabric given to me in a bundle of scraps. Just enough to make two new placemats for her.
While digging out all my fabrics in order to finish the last 3 blocks of the Rosemary and Thyme quilt top along with some other this and that fabric scraps I ran across this scrappy placemat pattern. We use placemats on a regular basis for our meals so placements for the various seasons are regular table settings for us. This pattern however takes scrap quilting to a new height. I always make four so this little project consisted of (224) 2" blocks, (8) 2" by 2.5" blocks, (4) 1" by 2" blocks, and (8) magic corners from 1.5" cuts. I have taken scrap quilting to a new dimension. I made the four pumpkin sections first and at that point of was just hooked. Cannot wait until late September or early October to start using them.

Rosemary and Thyme turned out beautifully! The doggie placemat is cute, so are the people placemats. Looks like you found a great scrappy pattern.
ReplyDeleteI’ve looked at that quilt pattern for some time. Yours is a real beauty. Lucky Zoey to get a nice new place mat! Sarah quiltingbythesea
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute little pumpkin place mat. We only use placemats when family or friends come over which isn't all that often. I wouldn't mind making a pumpkin placemat to give to the guild for their give aways. Maybe one of these days.
ReplyDeleteThat little pumpkin place mat is adorable! Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteRosemary and Thyme came out beautiful! I do believe little Miss Zoe is spoiled by designer placemats.
ReplyDeleteOf course Zoey needed new placemats. I have a couple of large cat themed place mats I put under our cat's feeding tray. Plus some even larger ones made with cat fabric too of course, to go under her litter box. Only the best for our pets!
ReplyDeleteI love your Rosemary and Thyme quilt! Very very nice!
ReplyDeleteI want the kitty one. That one made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
I really love your Rosemary and Thyme quilt. It's funny how we sometimes put off finishing things we really like. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

I love how this quilt turned out as well as the placemats. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how the last 10 percent seems to take the longest? I'm glad you persevered here and look forward to seeing how you decide to have Rosemary and Thyme quilted!
ReplyDeleteThat's one spoiled pooch posing on her very own hand crafted placemat. No reason to wait for October to use the pumpkin placemats. They should be showing up on vines in the garden about now.
ReplyDeleteA lot of great finishes this week. Can't wait to see the top quilted.
ReplyDeleteRosemary and Thyme came out so pretty! I remember seeing your progress, so to see the finished flimsy is such a treat! Congratulations!
