The early part of the week has been fairly productive. I was able to finish the top of the Curio quilt. It has been hot here, 108 last Monday, and 115 on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday dropped down into 110 and 105 finally. Best to stay in doors and sew. Thursday was a bust, I spent the greater part of the day at the dentist having a root canal. I do not recommend it, but given the fact that the tooth was becoming a problem it became a necessity. Glad that is over and I can get back to better use of my time.
Curio is finished and off to the quilter. It is huge, 78 by 90. It really is pretty and can hardly wait to see it quilted. The pattern for quilting it is feathers of course.I have been watching Alex Anderson's new class on line on Improv. Not something I have done much of before. Decided to give the first lesson Sticks a try. Keeping it small, just 18 by 18 inches. A great way to use up some of my solids, I am not much of a fan of them. However, it has come out pretty nicely.
Curio turns out beautifully, and you are right, feathers will look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love your improv mini! Those sticks are pretty, and it's looks like you had fun sewing them.
Thank you for sharing these two projects, and linking up ;)
Curio is so pretty, but I love your improv project, too! It can be fun to play with different techniques and fabrics than usual.
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes. I especially was enamored with your improv piece!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThe solid improv is very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteLove your Curio quilt. How interesting !
ReplyDeleteYou know, I didn't think I would like a modern quilt, but I love it. Congrats on it being so successful. But those temperatures? They're ridiculous and so dangerous!
ReplyDeleteCurio is really pretty, love the colors. Ugh on the root canal - glad it's behind you. Your Sticks improv looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!
Curio is so pretty with the muted colors. And nice job doing improv!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting Curio off to the quilter! Seems you're doing well with improv. Kudos! Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteYour peacock quilt is lovely, and will be even more so when it comes back quilted with feathers. I dont think improv quilting is for me, but it certainly is very popular, I've noticed.
ReplyDeletePS. Meant to add - root canals oh dear. I've had several in earlier years, not a fun way to spend an hour in the dentist chair is it.
ReplyDeleteOhh I Like sticks!!!! Thanks for also linking to Finished ( or not ) Friday!!!
ReplyDeleteCurio is beautiful, gentle colours. Like the Sticks one very much too, the colours really glow.
ReplyDeleteCurio is so cute! Improv can really be fun. You're off to a good start.
