BEARS, NEUTRAL BLOOMS, CEMENT AND DOGS

It would be nice if things could slow down a bit around here.  Alas until after next week that is not going to happen.  My guild's quilt show is the 9th and 10th of this month.  I am the treasurer, so have a lot of prep to do for the show of the cash boxes and banking of the proceeds.  It seems I run from one meeting to another almost daily.
We still have a major landscape remodel in our front and side yards on top of everything else needing attention.
I finished up my Teddy Bear quilt top this past week.  It is off at the quilter's, but when I put this picture up this morning I realized he doesn't have a mouth.  Will have to quilt that on when I get him back.  I chickened out doing the blue and green borders using 4 patches finished at 4 inches square.  So ended up cutting the strips instead.
Alex Anderson has a new project going on this week.  I love neutral quilts and her classes on U-Tube or Facebook are fun.  I ordered the kit from The Quilt Show rather than trying to pick through my stash.
The fabric arrived last week.  It was so pretty in its little bag and bow I have not pulled out the pieces to look at them yet.

An update on our landscape progress.  We have a driveway and walkway this past week.  All should be finished with the landscape portion this week too.
And an update on my daughter's new puppy Loki.  Here he is with his big sister Liza.  She says they are getting along really nicely, and enjoy laying out in the sun on the deck in the afternoons together.

  1. I love your bear quilt, and I think the border you did is just perfect! Fun fabric in the mail, too. That is quite a cement project at your house! Sometimes those just have to be done, though. Have a great week!

  4. I am with you on the "please slow down" thing! It's been fun here but I'd like to settle in for a bit, though likely not going to happen till next fall or winter! Sheesh! Anyway, I can only imagine the work of the guild treasurer right now, though certainly it's rewarding? Great progress with the front of your home! Bet it's fun to see the dif it makes!

  5. Hi Donna,
I love the bear quilt - and the borders are just fine! Much less work that small squares. I hope your quilt show is a success and your job as treasurer is less hectic once it is over with. Thanks for linking up with our Design Wall Mondays Linky Party, Judy

  7. That bear quilt is too cute, and I like the borders. Your neutral quilt pattern looks pretty. I agree sometimes it's just better to buy the kit than pick through stash. Your driveway looks awesome!

  12. The teddy bear is gorgeous and I'm interested in how the quilting will be done, I'll wait and see for that. Your new neutral quilt looks amazing. As does the work done on your yard. I didn't realise your daughter already had one of these massive dogs, the pup looks very happy with his big sister to look after him. Is this the same daughter with the peacocks etc?
