Well doesn't this look interesting. A rather odd thing to find in the quilt studio.
OK, time to pull out what is going on with this interesting discovery. I have no idea where this is going or when I started this project. I have been quilting for a good 27 years plus. My memory has failed me completely with this project.
All wadded up in the box is this treasure, started who knows how long ago.
At least I have the appliqué pattern started. All the pieces are ready to continue. The vine fabric is in there and the other two sides of the border are cut and ready to put on. There is no pattern, no information on when it was started. I plan to finish this treasure from my long ago traditional quilt life.
Oh my goodness -- what a fun discovery! Maybe you become The Doctor's Companion at some point in the future, and your future self traveled back in time with the TARDIS and left this project for you to finish in order to save the Universe. (My sons used to watch Doctor Who in my sewing room while I was quilting). But truly, what a beautiful project to pick up again after you'd completely forgotten about it!
ReplyDeleteWow, you got long way on that project before you shelved it. It's going to be a beauty once finished.
ReplyDeleteNice find. Its gonna be gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool find! It’s lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Donnalee! Well, that is certainly a surprise treasure box finding. I just LOVE all the different spool blocks, and those fabrics look like they're all different. It's funny that you packed it away in the Valentine's Day box - a heart, no less. It will be so fun to see you finish off this project. How amazing that you have all the pieces - it is destined to be finished or some would be missing for sure. Thanks for linking up today! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteDarn it! I thought you were going to find a great stash of chocolate - but fabric is the next best thing!
ReplyDeleteWhoa, nothing like quilt excavation! Can't wait to see what you figure out to do with your finds. Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what amazing treasure you discovered. I am looking forward to seeing what next you imagine with this pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a delightful surprse to find. It's like receiving a Valentine gift from a secret admirer. All I ever find in my old quilt storage boxes are ugly fabrics and orphan blocks. Enjoy finishing your lovely project.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting Chocolate in there! Silly me. What a fun find and such a pretty project in process. All prepped and ready to go, too! Those spools look wonderful so far and that border applique - perfect.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to find a treasure from long ago, waiting patiently to be completed. Funny how our minds go blank but you loved it once, and here it is again!
ReplyDeleteThat's so much better than chocolate! What a nice present you left yourself!
ReplyDeleteA fun applique border for the spools! Enjoy your hand stitching today!
